Many Canadians call us because they set out for a destination inside the United States from Canada, either by air or car, and upon being checked by U.S. immigration office, a Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officer they are denied admission. The CBP refuse to let them into the United States on the grounds that they are inadmissible. This means that something like criminal conviction stops the person from being admitted. While this might seem strange to you, Canada does exactly the same thing, many U.S. citizens are not eligible for entry into Canada due to criminal convictions, even very old ones.

If they received a pardon for a crime, how come the United States is using it against them. The simple answer is that the United States does not recognize the simple pardon process as erasing the offense.
